PISCATAWAY — A full-fledged timeshare was expected, and that's exactly what Rutgers' fanbase saw Saturday from its backfield in a shutout loss to Wisconsin.

Named a co-starter for the first time a week ago with Rutgers' run game in a rut, true freshman Robert Martin led its running backs with 25 snaps and 13 carries.

His numbers on Rutgers' final three drives (13 snaps, seven carries) inflate that figure.

Justin Goodwin carried seven times on 17 snaps, while Desmon Peoples finished with five on 10.

None truly distinguished themselves as myriad issues affected Rutgers' offense; Martin ripped off a 15-yard run on the team's final drive.

A similar rotation should follow for the rest of the season, unless Martin — with the smallest body of work — distances himself from the pack. Goodwin and Peoples have enough tape to suggest a breakout is unlikely.

Head coach Kyle Flood told reporters Sunday that freshman Josh Hicks — moved to safety because of a lack of depth — could return to running back in some capacity during Rutgers' bye week.
