Less than a week remains until the start of Rutgers training camp. This top-25 countdown will run infrequently, documenting who's got the most to prove in 2014.
No. 3 — CB Nadir Barnwell (5-foot-11, 185 pounds)
Why Barnwell's on the list: The last four-star commit on Rutgers' roster, Barnwell was one of a handful of freshmen forced into abrupt action a year ago. He didn't respond well.
A late-night DWI arrest followed a 35-point loss to Houston.
A new batch of freshmen join Rutgers' three returning corners. Delon Stephenson's fate is unknown. If Rutgers turns around its porous pass defense, Barnwell must lead it.
During training camp, keep an eye on: Barnwell's continuity in the secondary in his second season.
Barnwell admitted early last season he largely played on instinct. A full offseason in his native Piscataway should speed up his development.
2014 outlook: His size isn't eye-popping, but Barnwell was Rutgers' highest-rated commit two years ago for a reason.
He will have ample opportunity to showcase it. Results must follow in a suddenly space-happy Big Ten.
More from the countdown: No. 2 — Paul James
