Less than a week remains until the start of Rutgers training camp. This top-25 countdown will run infrequently, documenting who's got the most to prove in 2014.

No. 6 — WR Andre Patton (6-foot-4, 195 pounds)

Why Patton's on the list: The most polished of Rutgers' young receivers had spurts of promising play in the spring but never put it all together like some expected.

The arrival of Kansas transfer Andrew Turzilli may slow his on-field development.

But in the long term Patton projects as Rutgers' future No. 1 receiver, capable of playing either the X or Z position.

A strong year two would take pressure off top target Leonte Carroo, his 2013 season cut short by a concussion.

During training camp, keep an eye on: how Turzilli's transfer affects Patton's depth chart slot.

The 6-foot-3 New Jersey native brings a rare veteran presence, despite a slim résumé. Will it translate to knocking everyone down a peg?

2014 outlook: Because of a numbers game for targets, Patton likely won't eclipse Rutgers' third- or fourth-leading receiver.

But he could still be a valuable middle- or deep-field threat who benefits from others' slanted coverage.

More from the countdown: No. 7 — Quanzell Lambert
