PISCATAWAY — Four cameramen, two audio technicians and a handful of producers and editors will bring you the story of Rutgers receiver Leonte Carroo, which airs on Big Ten Network's "The Journey" on Wednesday at 7 p.m.
"The Journey", which blends on-field elements with off-field storytelling, met Carroo at Rutgers last week and the Yankoviches — the family that took him in for four years at Don Bosco — in Ramsey afterward.
The crew also spoke at the Hale Center with quarterback Gary Nova, Carroo's high school teammate.
"I'm pretty excited," said Carroo, who is second in the Big Ten in receiving yards. "I would like everybody to know what this family did for me. It's pretty exciting to know that it's finally paying off."
The half-hour show will feature segments on Carroo wired up at Rutgers practice, highlights of the Wisconsin-Rutgers game and interviews with the Yankovich family and Carroo's birth mother, Lavern.
Wisconsin's Melvin Gordon and Iowa's Brandon Scherff will also be profiled.
“I hope that if Rutgers football fans aren’t already familiar with his story, that this is good reason," said Bill Friedman, coordinating producer, BTN Originals. "We try to take these student-athletes away from the field for our viewer. We want to get you to know Leonte."
