PISCATAWAY — Stemming from his pending legal case on simple assault, Rutgers receiver Ruhann Peele has been suspended from on-field activity for the rest of the season, head coach Kyle Flood announced Tuesday via press release.
Peele was arrested in late August and charged, according to an NJ.com report.
Listed as a co-starter in the preseason, Peele was tied for Rutgers' returning lead in receptions (28), but an upper-body injury sidelined him before the season.
Peele, who redshirted in 2012, has two remaining years of eligibility.
Rutgers is projected to return its entire receiving corps except for Andrew Turzilli next season — barring an early exit for the NFL by Leonte Carroo.
That list includes sophomores Carlton Agudosi, Janarion Grant, Andre Patton and John Tsimis, who have all appeared with Rutgers' first-team offense this year.
