PISCATAWAY — In Rutgers' final tune-up of the spring, its top play caller was out of commission.
Ralph Friedgen, 67, is passing kidney stones. Assistant head coach Norries Wilson served as interim offensive coordinator. Rutgers' play calling didn't change, head coach Kyle Flood said.
The third-year head coach said he had no concerns about Friedgen's health when considering hiring him. Friedgen, who has coached for 45 years, is on the books for $500,000 the next two seasons.
"None whatsoever," said Flood, who expects Friedgen back next week. "There are a lot of people who deal with this issue on a daily basis. He'll deal with it today and we'll be ready to move on it with it tomorrow."
