The 2014 season brought a thorough return to the pro-style system head coach Kyle Flood covets, and that will likely repeat next year with offensive coordinator Ralph Friedgen anticipated back.

"It’s been really a wonderful experience," Friedgen said after the season finale Nov. 29, the last time he's met the media. "I love working with coach Flood and the staff and the players. It’s just a little different, that’s all.”

Below you'll find complete results from Friedgen's first season in Piscataway.

All findings are unofficial and based on week-by-week film reviews. (You can access them on this website under each month's tab.)

Tight end Tyler Kroft, one of only two departing skill-position players, finished with two fewer targets than Andre Patton despite playing in three more games and taking near-max reps in each.

His potential replacements, Nick Arcidiacono and Matt Flanagan, played sparingly.

NOTES: Kroft played one snap against Tulane because of a lingering injury. ... Patton appeared on one play at Nebraska and Janarion Grant didn't line up on offense because of a one-half suspension. ... Desmon Peoples played one snap against Indiana before suffering an injury. ... Andrew Turzilli appeared on only two plays against Washington State with a lingering injury.

Friedgen's eight most-used formations and play counts:

It's clear Friedgen felt most comfortable with Rutgers' base personnel (two backs, one tight end) on the field. And he could never be called a micro-manager, often leaving the same five skill-position players on the field for entire drives.

How much that strategy will change with a new fullback (replacing a four-year starter) and tight end remains to be seen.

But as long as Flood holds dear a pro-style set, certain philosophies will endure, even with a dearth of talent returning on the perimeter. The spring will provide a clearer picture.
