Michael Burton, Darius Hamilton, David Milewski, Gary Nova and Lorenzo Waters are Rutgers' captains in 2014, head coach Kyle Flood announced Tuesday via Twitter.

Nova is the only two-time captain. While his late-season status in 2013 was in doubt — he missed the final three games — he rebounded with a strong early part of training camp and was named starting quarterback last week.

Hamilton, one of the team's stronger vocal presences, finished last season with a team-high 11.5 tackles for loss and recorded all 4.5 of his sacks in his last five games played.

Milewski has rebounded from three separate knee injuries to become a stabilizing presence at defensive end. He took over as starter on the two-deep at the beginning of camp.

Waters is Rutgers' most veteran player in the secondary, with 24 career starts.

Burton has appeared in 29 career games, with 17 starts at fullback.
